What happened to Thompson Aire? How did I get here? Where is this?
WHAT HAPPENED?
Thompson Aire has retired. More Accurately Capt Thompson has retired. Thompson Aire flew passengers in the Disney area for 30 years. Capt Jeff Thompson has retired from commercial passenger flights and is now enjoying his retirement from flying. While he is no longer flying passengers he still is involved in the world of Hot Air Ballooning. He will occasionally be the ground support team for Capt Kim McCourt (owner and chief pilot for Greater Orlando Balloon rides), and still does work for other balloon operators in his shop. Capt Thompson uses his 50 years of experience in the hot air balloon industry to manufacture all sorts of products used in Ballooning as well as refurbishing hot air balloon baskets. SEE Balloons-andBeyond.com for more information. So if you book a flight with Greater Orlando Balloon Rides do not be surprised if you see Capt Jeff A Thompson out as part of your ground support team.
How did I get here?
Since Thompson Aire is no longer flying passenger flights the website has now been redirected to Greater Orlando Balloon rides. Capt Kim McCourt was originally part of the ground team for Thompson Aire many years ago. Over time he learned to fly, received his pilot certificate and eventually became a commercial pilot flying for Thompson Aire. When Thompson Aire closed Capt Kim McCourt began to fly passenger flights himself. Using much of what he learned under the direction of Capt Thompson and flying for Thompson Aire he is now offering flights in the Disney area 7 days a week at sunrise (Weather Permitting).
